The Bailey's Elementary School Courtyard in an ongoing project of the school's PTA. The courtyard is completely organized, funded,and maintained by parent, teacher and community volunteers and was designed by Bailey's parent Steve Elkinton.

The courtyard is populated with Virginia native plants. It serves as an outdoor learning center for all grades.

The courtyard is an ongoing project. We plan on creating a rock garden with ignaceous rocks and fossils, adding more plants and animals, adding a solar powered pump to the pond and obtaining and installing a storage shed. Please consider volunteering to help maintain and improve this valuable learning environment by contacting Susan Scott, Courtyard Coordinator or Laura Reichenbaugh, Garden Angel Coordinator.
